Stuart Weitzman is the shoemaker to the stars! His biggest fan is none other than King Bey, who has once again enlisted his services to design and create all the footwear for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.
Weitzman told PEOPLE about the look they were going for, saying:
“We made her beautiful jeweled pumps, ankle boot lace-ups with metal trim on them … that are very sexy. We made her these boots up to the thigh that have a military influence. Those are the three principal designs, in lots of colors.”
After working with Bey all these years, he says her number one concern is that the shoes be comfortable and pain-free.
“What Beyoncé specifically pays attention to is being able to [wear the shoes] without noticing they’re on her feet. She doesn’t want her feet to burn, so we can’t have too thin of a sole, but [she asks for] the build-up inside the shoe so it doesn’t look too heavy. The public doesn’t see or think about that, but Beyoncé does.”
In addition to Bey’s personal shoe arsenal for the tour, Weitzman also created all the footwear for her backup dancers and band. He says, “It was a project. We did something like 40, 50 shoes.”
When asked why their partnership has lasted for so long, Weitzman explains that he and Mrs. Carter share a mutual understanding of the need to pay attention to how the shoe feels on the foot, in addition to looking good.
